Students at GPS have demonstrated that determination, teamwork and community spirit can make a life-changing difference and have raised more than $16,000 for the Heart Foundation through this year’s Jump Rope for Heart campaign.

Over several weeks, students challenged themselves to improve their skipping skills while seeking sponsorship from family, friends and the wider community. The campaign culminated in a whole-school ‘Jump Off Day’, where students celebrated their fundraising achievements and showcased the skills they had developed throughout the program.

Principal Jesse Wheaton praised the outstanding efforts of the school community.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our students for the incredible commitment, generosity and teamwork they have shown throughout this year’s Jump Rope for Heart campaign,” he said.

“Raising more than $16,000 is an outstanding achievement and a true reflection of the compassion and community spirit that makes our school so special.

“Every skip, every donation and every effort has helped make a real difference to the lives of Australians affected by heart disease.

“Congratulations to all of our students, staff and families who contributed to this remarkable result.”

SRC Teacher Coordinators Dempsey Elphick and Bethany Bruce said the campaign highlighted the leadership and compassion of GPS students.

“Watching our students embrace this year’s Jump Rope for Heart campaign with such enthusiasm, kindness and determination has been incredibly rewarding,” they said.

“Raising over $16,000 is an amazing achievement, but what we’re most proud of is the way our students supported one another, encouraged participation and demonstrated genuine care for others.
“Their leadership, generosity and community spirit have made a lasting impact, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished together.”

All funds raised by the students will go on to support the Heart Foundation’s vital work in funding lifesaving research, promoting heart health education and improving outcomes for Australians living with heart disease.

The success of this year’s campaign reflects the generosity of the entire GPS community. Students, families and staff worked together to exceed fundraising expectations while promoting healthy, active lifestyles through skipping.

With more than $16,000 raised, the school has once again shown that even small acts—one jump at a time—can have a significant impact on the lives of others.
