Gundagai held a Biggest Morning Tea last Thursday 28th May 2026 at the Gundagai District Services Club, raising funds for the Cancer Council.
The Gundagai District Services Club said the event was extremely well attended, with a large number of community members coming together to support this important cause.
“Guests enjoyed a delicious morning tea and a cuppa, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the Club.”
The day featured a range of activities, including lucky door prizes and raffles, which were very well supported. A trading table was also available, offering a wonderful selection of homemade cakes, slices and other delicious goodies, along with jams and beautifully knitted items.
Eliza Tout from Cancer Council, Wagga, addressed the crowd, sharing her personal experience of losing her sibling to cancer. Eliza’s heartfelt story was deeply moving and resonated with many attendees.
The event also featured entertainment from St Patrick’s Primary School Infants students, who delighted the crowd with their singing and dancing.
“The morning was a great success, raising over $9,000 for the Cancer Council. A special thanks go to St Patrick’s Primary School for their generous donation of $494, and to an anonymous donor who contributed $5,000,” said Ashleigh Armour from the District Services Club.
“We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Wendy Smith and her family for organising such a wonderful event, and to Eliza and her team from the Cancer Council for attending and sharing their experience. Thank you also to everyone who came along to support a cause that has touched so many of us – we all know someone who has fought or continues to fight cancer.”
