Schools in Gundagai paused on Tuesday to commemorate Remembrance Day along with members of the public at ANZAC Grove.
Students and school leaders from Gundagai South Public School, Gundagai Public School, St Patrick’s Primary and Gundagai High School attended the service at ANZAC Grove led by the Gundagai RSL Sub-Branch.
Gundagai High School said they were honoured to attend the service.
“Our students gathered at ANZAC Grove to honour and remember the brave men and women who have served our country. It was a moving service, filled with respect, reflection, and gratitude. We are incredibly proud of all the students who participated, and we were especially proud to see a Gundagai High School student take part in the ceremony as a member of the Light Horse, representing both our school and our community with pride and honour.
A special thank you goes to the students who helped set up the audio equipment and ensured everything ran smoothly — your efforts made a big difference and helped create a meaningful experience for everyone. Lest We Forget,” said Gundagai High School.
Gundagai Public School also held a ceremony on school grounds. “Our School Captains led a thoughtful ceremony at school honouring the courage and sacrifice of those who have served our country. “Remembrance Day allows us to reflect on the bravery, service, and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom and those who continue to serve today. Lest We Forget,” said Gundagai Public School.
“Thank you to our School Captains, Indi and Lachlan, for representing our school at the Remembrance Day service at ANZAC Grove this morning. Remembrance Day marks the end of the First World War in 1918 and honours all those who have served and sacrificed in wars and conflicts since then,” said St Patrick’s Primary.
“Thank you also to Mrs Howe (REC) for preparing a beautiful service for the rest of our students at school, as we gathered to remember, give gratitude and pray for those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and peace we enjoy today.”
