Last week, Gundagai Public School and Gundagai South Public School attended the Brungle Public School NAIDOC Expo for Children’s Week.
The event is a day full of guest speakers, stalls, activities and workshops that are connected to local Aboriginal knowledge, health, safety and wellbeing. Attendees have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Aboriginal culture.
Gundagai Public School had students from Kindergarten to Year 6 attend and said it was a fantastic day.
“Students enjoyed a fantastic day filled with cultural connection, learning, and hands-on activities that celebrated the rich traditions and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”
“It was a truly awesome experience — one that left our students inspired and full of positive energy. We’ve received such wonderful feedback from everyone who attended. A big thank you to Brungle Public School and all involved for hosting such a special day of culture, community, and celebration,” said Gundagai Public School.

Police from the Riverina Police Department also took part in the NAIDOC Expo and hosted a stall at the expo.
“This event had hundreds of students coming to the school to take part in activities, talks and speaking to different services at stalls. As usual it was an amazing event, well done,” Riverina Police said.
Aunty Sony Piper and Uncle Pete from Gundagai’s MAWANG INC attended the event too and also hosted a stall. Various other organisations were in attendance including the NRL South West Crew, SES, schools from Tumut, and Bendigo Bank.
