Last Thursday (September 11), the Gundagai CWA x Gundagai Shed held their annual ‘RUOK Day’ Bake Off, where local members of the Shed and CWA baked items to compete for a trophy, handmade by members of The Shed.
Jessica Butler, CWA Acting President, said the event was a huge success with a lot of interesting entries.
“A huge thank you to everyone who came out to the event. The Gundagai CWA was successful in taking out the overall winners for the RUOK Day Bake Off for 2025! It was such a great morning of conversation and good company.”
“We hope you all had a great day, and remember to keep the discussion going. Check in with a little ‘Are You Ok?’ now and then, it may just help make someone’s day. We hope to see you all next year on September 10, 2026,” Jessica said.
Judy Moore from the CWA won the ‘Savoury’ category with her zucchini slice, Sue Spicer from the CWA won the ‘Retro’ category with a pineapple upside down cake and the ‘Weird but in a good way’ category with her pavlova made from chick-peas instead of eggs, and Elaine Tunstell from the Gundagai Shed won the ‘International’ category for her entry of rhubarb crumble.
Matt Day, Gundagai Shed Secretary, said the morning was enjoyed by all.

Thanks again to our sponsors, supporters, entrants, volunteers and participants for coming together for another fun morning.”
R U OK? Day is an Australian national suicide prevention initiative held annually on the second Thursday of September, encouraging people to start meaningful conversations with friends, family, and colleagues to support mental health.
The campaign was founded in 2009 by Gavin Larkin, inspired by the suicide of his father, to promote the message that a conversation can change a life. The core steps for having a helpful conversation are to ask, listen, Encourage Action, and Check In (ALEC).
