The successful recommissioning of the Challenger Gold Mine in Adelong marks a major milestone for Great Divide Mining – but it was only made possible thanks to the dedication and grit of local businesses, tradespeople, and suppliers across the Riverina and Snowy Valleys districts.
Over the past six months, these Challenger Champions have worked shoulder-to-shoulder with GDM’s team to bring the mine back to life — often at short notice, often after hours, and across weekends.
Electricians, fitters, welders, boilermakers, parts suppliers, plant hire crews, machine shops, fuel haulers, and specialist technicians, all said, “Yes we can!” – and then delivered.
“The first gold pour, on July 16 is as much a credit to these small enterprises as it is to our internal team,” said GDM CEO Justin Haines.
“Their problem-solving, professionalism, and determination under pressure, reflect the strength and capability of the regional supply chain.”
“We knew we had the right partners the moment we started,” Haines went on to say.
“These weren’t just contractors — they were collaborators, champions of the cause, and part of the Challenger family from day one.”
