Chris and Alana Bowles.
Something special is growing here in our little corner of the world — a small health business built on big heart, real care, and a genuine commitment to the communities we call home.
Bowles Health is the vision of Chris and Alana Bowles, a husband-and-wife team who made the move to Tumut during COVID. Like many families, the challenges of the pandemic brought things into sharper focus.
“We were running a small allied health business in Sydney,” says Chris. “It was going well, but when COVID hit, we had to close the doors. At the time it felt devastating — but in hindsight, it gave me time with my girls that I’ll never forget. That slower pace, and the chance to be more present with our family, made us rethink everything.”
The Bowles family had worked in rural Queensland years earlier and knew how much they loved the country lifestyle. So when the opportunity to relocate to Tumut came up, they took a leap of faith — and haven’t looked back.

Chris is now one of the most trusted chiropractors in the Snowy Valleys region, with over 14 years of clinical experience and a reputation for being kind, thorough, and incredibly committed to his patients. With a Bachelor and Master of Chiropractic from Macquarie University, Chris combines technical expertise with lived experience — having overcome a major spinal injury in his early rugby career, he knows firsthand how important good care, movement, and recovery really are.
“Chris is incredibly well respected — not just because he’s a skilled chiropractor, but because he really listens,” says Alana. “Patients feel cared for. They trust his advice, and know that he has their interests first. And the team is growing. Recently, Bowles Health welcomed Mia Hardwick, a local physiotherapist from Adelong.
“Mia has a heart of gold,” Alana says. “She cares deeply about people and about serving her community. She’s clever, humble, and just the kind of practitioner we need more of in the bush. We feel so lucky to have her.”
At Bowles Health, the goal is simple: to make great health care accessible, affordable, and personal. That means offering bulk billing where possible, concessional rates for those who need it, and honest, evidence-based care you can rely on — no upselling, no pressure, just real support.
