Join MAWANG at the Gundagai District Services Club on Saturday 11 July for an unforgettable evening celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, community, and achievement at the Gundagai NAIDOC Ball.
This year’s NAIDOC Week theme, ‘50 Years of Deadly’, honours five decades of recognising, celebrating, and elevating the voices, achievements, and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The night will feature inspiring guest speaker Angeline Penrith, a proud Wiradjuri and Yuin woman, Redfern community member, mother, and actor; MC Yandel Herring; live entertainment from River Rok; and the presentation of five community awards recognising local Aboriginal people for their ongoing strength, leadership, and commitment to our community.
The award categories are Deadly Female Elder, Deadly Male Elder, Deadly Achiever, Deadly Sportsperson and Carer of Country. The awards recipients are chosen to highlight those who have made significant contributions and inspired others through their dedication and passion.
Guests will enjoy a delicious roast dinner catered by Tian Restaurant, along with plenty of exciting lucky door prizes and giveaways throughout the evening. Capture the memories with the photo booth, this provides fun photo experiences and printed keepsakes to take home.
