Last week staff at the Gundagai office of Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council came together on Wednesday 1 April for an early Easter luncheon fundraiser in support of Gundagai CanAssist.
The luncheon was a lovely team effort, with staff bringing along a range of dishes, and was generously catered by Donna Scott, Casual Visitor Information Centre Assistant.
In total, the team raised $150 for Gundagai Can Assist. The fundraiser was held to support a very worthy local organisation that provides practical assistance to community members undergoing cancer treatment.
Casey Polsen from Visit Gundagai shared why they chose to support the local charity.
“We felt Gundagai Can Assist is a very worthy charity. Many of our staff have been personally impacted by cancer, whether through family, friends or within the wider community, so it was something we were all really proud to support. It’s an organisation that does some incredible work behind the scenes, and it’s great to be able to support those who support our community,” said Casey.
Phil Smith, Can Assist Gundagai President said they are so grateful for the support and shared how these funds directly support locals, explaining that $40 can cover a trip to Wagga for treatment, while $100 can assist with accommodation during treatment.
“Donations like these mean we can continue to support local patients throughout their cancer treatments. It all makes such a big difference, thank you.”
