The Gundagai Tigers were unable to beat the Junee Diesels at Anzac Park on Saturday, going down 18 – 14.
Gundagai and Junee were very close all game, putting pressure on the other side, but not enough to break through either team’s defence. In the end, the score came down to conversions, of which Will Herring wasn’t able to match Stuart Dunbar’s efforts. With three tries each, Gundagai are still looking good for the season ahead.
The reserves grabbed a win by the skin of their teeth, winning by a single point, 12 -11. Junee had early success in the game, grabbing two tries early on, but the Tigers were able to claw their way to victory with a try and a penalty goal as the game went on.
The Under 18s beat Junee comprehensively 38 – 8 in a great win for the lads on the paddock. Junee put up a good fight, but the Gundagai boys were overwhelming and tough.
The league tag girls were also trampled by the Junee trail 38 – 10, but showed great signs throughout despite the score. Gundagai put pressure later on, and attempted to mount a comeback, but Junee were able to shut them down.
There will be a bye this weekend due to Anzac Day, but after that, they will be back on May 2 to play Tumut at Twickenham Oval.
