Peter Dunn, a local carriage driver with his horse Hillswood Tango Express, won the Prince Philip Award for best Dressage performance at a competition in the Southern Highlands at Bundanoon on the 4th and 5th of October.
The competition, named ‘The Ashes’, involved 24 drivers from New South Wales and Victoria competing against teams from England.
Also at the event was another competition running at the same time called ‘The Nations Cup’ with 140 entries from Australia, England, Canada, Denmark, Wales, Scotland and Malta.
Overall, there were 54 Australian entries across 3 locations: Nanango QLD, Wheatbelt Region WA and Bundanoon in NSW.
In the Nations Cup, Australia finished in 2nd place, Peter was 1st in Dressage, 2nd in Cones and 3rd in Obstacles, finishing 2nd Overall.
In the Ashes competition, Australia finished 2nd also, with Peter’s results the same as the nation’s event and only beaten by 4 points.
The following weekend, Peter backed up his performance by winning the NSW Driven Dressage Championship Intermediate Class at Temora, coming home with another nice trophy.
Peter is also helping to organise the 2025 NSW Carriage Driving Championship at Gundagai on the 24th, 25th & 26th October to be held on the Gundagai Showground and Common. Entry is free to the event.
Dressage will be held on Friday, Marathon and Obstacles on Saturday and the Cones competition will be held on the Sunday morning.
