Earlier this week the Gundagai Visitor Information Centre installed a new wall mural in their new building, before moving into their new premises later in the month.
Casey Polsen from Visit Gundagai said the installation is something they hope will showcase the town and really highlight its beauty. “We have a beautiful big new space in the new centre, and so we had a lot of wall space to fill, and we are hoping to do local produce and showcasing the region in the new premises, so we had some photography done at the end of last year done by Matt Beaver, and we found this beautiful photo that we thought would look absolutely fabulous up on our wall.” “So, we got Simon from NXT Signs in Cootamundra to install it for us, and it looks absolutely fabulous,” Casey said.
“We thought it was something to showcase the town, as it is one of the first things you’ll see as you walk through the front door,” Casey said.
The development of the new Visitor Centre has been moving along quickly in recent weeks and should be opening at the end of the month. “It has been a very busy few weeks. All our display units have arrived, and we’ve got some new souvenirs on the way. We’ve also got Joe Morton from Goanna Graphics in Gundagai, who is installing the signage, such as welcome signage and signs that highlight the local wine regions.”
“We are trying to keep everything as local as possible, including suppliers which is why we went with Simon from Cootamundra and Joe from Gundagai.”
“It’s coming along really well, it’s great to see some movement down there and it really has been a very collaborative effort from our team, as well as the Engineering and Parks and Gardens teams, it’s been a big effort which is great.”
“We are pushing for an opening on Saturday, 27 September. It will be a soft opening, we are planning on a grand opening towards the end of the year, but we will be down in the new space from that date,” Casey said.
“It may look a bit sparse for a bit, but we are doing our best to fill it with new souvenirs and produce and give it a real freshen up, which will be great.”
“It’s going to be a big weekend for town that weekend as we’ve got the Festival of Gundagai the week before, and then that weekend we’ve got the Land Rover event in town and the World Record attempt is that weekend as well, so there is a lot happening that weekend,” Casey said.
The Visitor Information Centre will likely be closed for a couple of days in the lead up to the opening of the new Centre, so they can move everything across and get everything set up and organised.
