Earlier in the month, Gundagai South Public School was awarded a cheque for a donation of $7,410 from The Criterion Hotel’s Friday night fundraising raffle, where all proceeds from the raffle go to a local charity or organisation.
Nathan Stelter from the Criterion Hotel said the raffle is an opportunity for the Club to give back to the community.
“The proceeds raised from the entirety of the raffle went directly to Gundagai South Public School. We chose them because it is a small school and probably the most deserving; they do a lot for the kids, such as trips, and they are a bit more hands-on than anything,” Nathan said.
“It is good to give back to the community. We have surpassed $35,000 to date, and it is from locals for locals for the community. We do it to be a presence in the community, and we have the opportunity to give back, and so we are going to do everything we can,” Nathan said.
“We want to set the foundation that we are a community pub, and this is a way for us to do that.”
The Criterion are currently running another raffle with the soccer club, the Hospital Auxiliary and the kids’ football club as potential recipients for the funds raised.
Gundagai South Public School said the school is very grateful and appreciates the support.
