So Magnificent by Champion sire So You Think has delivered another win for trainer Todd Smart and connections at Orange on Sunday.
After two trials in September and October 2024, the three year old bay colt went on to have his first start at Wagga over 1200 metres.
Widest at the turn he fought on when midfield to show a great turn of speed to finish 3rd, showing he may go a further trip.
Gundagai’s Billy Owen was aboard for the next start over 1400 metres at Canberra on November 24, where from barrier 11, he got home in a close one by less than a third of a length. Yet again he was one of the widest at the turn and true to form came home strongly to get the cash.

He had a three month break before returning in a trial over 900 metres with a final 600 metres of 32.79 seconds and just under a length win.
March 23rd saw So Magnificent head to Bathurst where he won by two lengths. This time he settled third in a field of 6, where he gave the leaders 4 lengths at one stage before putting his hooves down at the turn where he let down and took the lead with 175 metres to run.
With four starts, including three wins, So Magnificent has picked up more than $50,000 and will be headed for higher honours in the future.
Todd has claimed 10 wins from his stable’s last 50 starts and it looks like So Magnificent has not only hit a purple patch, he could be the real thing. A trip to the city and a Highway race no doubt beckons for the son of champion, So You Think.
