Man charged following vehicle stop – Riverina PD
A man will appear in court charged following the alleged discovery of more than 90kg of cannabis during a vehicle stop in the state’s Riverina region.
About 12.45pm Wednesday 29 January 2025), officers attached to Riverina Police District were conducting patrols along the Hume Highway, Tumblong, about 70km east of Wagga Wagga, when they sighted a Toyota Kluger travelling north.
Officers stopped the Toyota for the purpose of random testing, and spoke with the driver and sole occupant, a 25-year-old man.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located and seized 92kg of cannabis in vacuum sealed bags, mobile phones and $860 cash.
The driver was arrested and taken to Gundagai Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug – commercial quantity.
He was refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court (Thursday 30 January 2025).
