Gundagai Community Expo to be held at District Services Club in March

Services Australia will be at the Gundagai Community Expo in March holding workshops and information sessions.

The Gundagai Neighbourhood Centre is hosting their community expo on Friday 14th March at the Gundagai District Services Club from 10am-2pm. While this is not the first time the expo has been held in Gundagai, this year the focus will be different and the expo will be open to all members of the community, not just seniors.

Peggy Elliott, Event Organiser said the event will touch on all aspects of the community.

“There will be groups at the expo that provide information to all ages, disability, aged – anything that people might want to learn more about, including The Men’s Shed, health services, Interreach, Tumut Regional Family Services and Open Mobility – there is such a broad range of services available for all community members.”

“Services Australia will also be there holding information sessions,” Peggy said.

“We would really love for the community to come along and support all the services coming in to town that are providing information for them,” Peggy said.

The expo aims to strengthen community bonds and connect individuals with local services, groups and information to assist people living in rural communities.  The expo will provide communication, cooperation and collaboration between community services in Gundagai and surrounds and build public awareness of the community services available to people in the region.

“Attendees will have the opportunity to be face to face with a number of services, so it’s not just the ringing up and finding things out over the phone, attendees will actually be able to go up and sit with the person, face to face, find out what they do and if there is anything they could provide that would make their life and wellbeing even better,” Peggy said,  “People will have the opportunity to talk to someone face to face and find out information that they probably weren’t aware of. Every year there are people who didn’t realise that there are certain services available in the area until the expo,” Peggy said.

A free morning tea will be provided at 10.15am with other food and drinks available for purchase at the club. Parking is available at the rear and side car parks at the venue.
