Scobie Takes Out First Place

Gundagai Thoroughbred trainer and show jumper Jim Scobie competed at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre in early October in the Equimillion showjumping competition.

Equimillion is a million-dollar equestrian event exclusively for retired Thoroughbred racehorses hosted by RacingNSW, an initiative that helps prolong their careers.

It was a superb showcase of retired Thoroughbred racehorses with some big names and not so well known ex-gallopers competing across four disciplines. Some names you’ll know – Nature Strip, Hartnell, Art Cadeau, Two Big Fari and Special Reward.

Jim competed with Wild Buckeroo, who has only recently finished his racing career, in the New Star TB Jumping Class, and experienced jumper Boomerang Cafe who took on the 90cm TB Jumping Class.

The trip to the big smoke was a rewarding one with Jim and Boomerang Cafe taking out the 90cm open jump.

Gundagai-Adelong Racing Club is proud to be sponsoring Jim’s efforts and is even prouder of his results and ongoing dedication to his horses throughout and after their racing careers.

Show Jumping Championship Results: 90cm Open, First place – BOOMERANG CAFE – Jim Scobie
Second place – MAVERICK3MC – Kylie Zabel
Third place – JIRRIMA THE ROOKIE – Tania Harding
Fourth place – GREYLAND- Jade Willis
Fifth place – REFERO – Danielle Hess.
